- By DELON PORCALLA

SUNNYLANDS, California – President Aquino will have at least three business meetings in Los Angeles – including one with Walt Disney International executives – after he attends the two-day US-Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit here.

The agenda was not known, but a schedule provided to Manilabased reporters covering the regional conference showed the meeting would be held right after the end of the Feb. 15-16 special summit.

Aquino will meet Walt Disney chairman

Andy Bird and vice president for global public policy Jim Filippatos at the Grand Chateau of the Intercontinental Hotel in Los Angeles, a twohour drive from Palm Springs (Sunnylands).

Executives of two other business groups – Western Digital Corp. and Enterprise Growth Solutions AECOM – will also meet Aquino right after the Walt Disney schedule and before he speaks at the Los Angeles World Affairs Council (LAWAC).

Aquino is expected to discuss the growing tension between the Philippines and China over sovereignty issues in the South China Sea during the LAWAC event.

According to LAWAC, Aquino will also speak about “the new defense agreement between Manila and Washington, security in East Asia and the future for economic growth in the Philippines and its neighbors in Southeast Asia.”

On Feb. 17, Aquino will have a podcast interview where he will meet president Michael Genovese of the World Policy Institute, after which he will be conferred an honorary doctor of humane letters degree by the Loyola Marymount University (LMU).
