The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has launched a short video contest aimed at raising awareness on the importance of water to human life and sustainable development.

With the theme “Water and Jobs,” the video contest focuses on the connection between water and the decent work agenda in moving towards sustainable development as part of the celebration of the World Water Day on March 4.

Countries around the world are adopting sustainable water strategies like water reuse, watershed restoration, estero or water body rehabilitation, and water conservation and efficiency to address global water challenges, according to Juan Miguel Cuna, DENR assistant secretary and Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) director.

The video contest is open to all college students in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Calabarzon region. The entries must only be one-minute long.

All video entries must be posted on the Facebook page of the National Search for Sustainable and Eco-friendly Schools (NSSEFS) by March 4.

Entries will be judged based on relevance to the theme, style and creativity, composition and originality.

Awarding ceremonies will be on March 22 at the Celebrity Sports Plaza in Quezon City during the culminating activity of the World Water Day celebration.
