Lakas-CMD exec backs Bongbong’s VP bid

- By PERSEUS ECHEMINADA With Jose Rodel Clapano

Vice presidential candidate Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. yesterday got the endorsement of a stalwart of Lakas- Christian Muslim Democrats ( Lakas- CMD), just after a ranking official of the Nationalist People’s Coalition ( NPC) supported his candidacy.

Former executive secretary Eduardo Ermita, regional chairman of LakasCMD in Calabrazon since 1992, yesterday endorsed Marcos, who brought his Unity Caravan to Batangas to meet with local officials in Balayan City.

“Our vice president, with his long service, he knows the needs of Filipinos. He has experience and intelligence and he is also hardworking. In the Senate, he is among the best that should be trusted,” Ermita said in Filipino.

Ermita also said he is confident that Marcos would be elected because the senator has kept his base in northern Luzon and he is also a force to reckon with in Mindanao.

“It’s just simple arithmetic. One cake is divided by two, the other half is divided by four and the other is going for the only one coming from northern Luzon – our vice president Marcos,” Ermita added.

Since the start of the campaign season, Marcos has been getting the support of political leaders from Ilocos Sur, Abra, La Union, Pangasinan and Pasig City.

Last Friday, NPC Pangasinan Chairman Mark Cojuangco endorsed Marcos during the senator’s visit to the province.

Cojuangco said Marcos is the best candidate for vice president because of his extensive experience as public servant. –
