Macway upends PCU

Macway Travel Club brought down Philippine Christian University, 88-84, in the early battle of favorites in the 2016 MBL Open at the Rizal Coliseum.

Veteran Niño Marquez scored 23 points while orchestrat­ing the plays for Macway.

Fidel Castro and Ford Ruaya combined for 50 points for PCU, which is seeking to return as regular member of the NCAA with coach Elvis Tolentino at the helm.

Castro fired 27 and Ruaya added 23 for the Dolphins, who led 48-40 at halftime.

AMA-Wang’s Ballclub subdued New San Jose Builders, 93-77, to barge into the win column after two games.

Jeralan Tampus finished with 22 points for AMA-Wang’s. Jam Jamito, Jayson Jordan, Rezalde Angeles and Paul Carpio provided ample scoring support for AMAWang’s, which led in all four quarters.
