Secretaries’ group woos male colleagues, prepares for confabs
Filipino men working as executive secretaries and administrative staff in the country and overseas now have a group they can join and work with to develop their careers and life potentials.
Philippine Association of Secretaries and Administrative Professionals Inc. (PAS) president Lilian Coloma, recently said their group has initiated steps to welcome male colleagues into their national organization. Historically the first president of PAS is lawyer Guillermo Rosales with lawyer Pedro Genato as the 7th PAS president.
People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) president Roberto Policarpio Jr. inducted the 2016 officers of the PAS in rites last Jan. 28 at the Makati Diamond Residences.
Coloma said among their new members are Dave Marcaida and Karlos Canzana.
Canzana is an executive secretary working in Saudi Arabia while Marca- ida is head, administrative officer at the Lopez, Quezon campus of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
“We look forward to creating educational programs to benefit overseas Filipino workers,” Coloma said.
The PAS thrust on “reinventing the path forward” involves the Millennials and compels secretaries and administrative professionals “to increase our value in the workplace and to our families.”
Coloma acknowledged that most of her colleagues today “are Millennials with affinity for technology that reinvent the workplace... We must adapt to our present world, to new working environments, to new work partners, to new technologies. In short to new ways of doing.”
PMAP president Policarpio agreed with the PAS on the imperative of reinvention. “The job description (of secretaries) has been revolutionized,” the San Miguel Corp. executive said in his keynote address before inducting the new PAS officers.
The PAS Development Foundation board of trustees is comprised of Sally Magalong, chairman; Lilian Coloma, vice chairman; Gigi Juico, secretary; Yoli Vertucio, treasurer, trustees Mely Conchu, Luz de Jesus and Emily Parel.
PAS preparations are underway for their national convention in April and hosting of the ASA Congress of Secretaries and Administrative Professionals in Asia Pacific in September.
