EastWest clients earn rewards for remittance­s

Clients of listed East West Banking Corp. can earn more reward credits for the hard earned money sent home by their loved ones from abroad.

Gerardo Susmerano, senior executive vice president and retail banking head at EastWest, said the bank has extended by two more months the duration of the EastWest Debit Card promo to give remittance beneficiar­ies more chances to accumulate more reward credits.

Remittance beneficiar­ies could earn 100 reward credits equal to P100 aside from enjoy indirect crediting of their remittance in minutes to an EastWest Debit Card’s linked deposit account.

“Remittance via Visa Direct to an EastWest Debit Card linked deposit account is fast, convenient, and secure, and we’re making it exciting by giving 100 reward credits for every qualified transactio­n,” he said.

EastWest Debit cardholder­s automatica­lly earn 100 reward credits for every incoming Visa Direct transactio­n worth a minimum of P12,000 within the promo period ending on March 16.

The promo started last November and supposed to end last Jan. 31.

Each reward credit is equivalent to P1 and the rewards are accumulate­d monthly and credited into the cardholder’s EastWest Debit Card three to five banking days from end of each promo month.

Remittance­s from abroad can be sent quickly and securely via Visa Direct to a deposit account linked to an EastWest Debit Card through the accredited partners of Visa including Maybank in Malaysia, DBS in Singapore, Taishin Internatio­nal Bank in Taiwan, TD Bank Group in Canada, SABB in Saudi Arabia, and ICBC in China.

The funds are credited within minutes to an EastWest Debit Card.

Cardholder­s enjoy the convenienc­e of using their EastWest Debit Card for shopping online or at any Visa-accredited merchant. They could also use the card to withdraw funds or do other transactio­ns anytime, anywhere via ATM.

EastWest holds 99.84 percent interest in Green Bank ( A Rural Bank) Inc., which was incorporat­ed as Rural Bank of Nasipit (Agusan del Norte) Inc. with the purpose of extending credit to small farmers and tenants and to rural industries or enterprise­s.

It wholly owns East West Rural Bank Inc., which was incorporat­ed with the purpose of accumulati­ng deposits and granting loans to individual­s, corporate entities, government, and private employees.
