Startup offers logistics service for small businesses

-

Send anything to anyone, anytime with Mober, a Filipino-owned on-demand delivery service mobile application that addresses the logistics needs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), startups and individuals.

Through the app, SMEs and individuals can book a vehicle to have their goods or parcels picked up and delivered by the nearest available van to their designated destinations around Metro Manila.

“Mober is an ambitious delivery service marketplace for goods with a B2B and C2C focus. We serve our customers through the app with our 24-hour delivery service,” Dennis Ng, Mober founder and CEO said.

“Our mission is to make online business easy for everyone. Whether you are a large company or a small business, e-commerce must be available to everybody in the Philippines,’’ Ng said. Cargo delivery services like GoGoVan and Lalamove have already proven their success in the region’s e-commerce boom. “Now it’s time for the Philippines to take the same step and make e-commerce accessible for anyone, anywhere,’’ Ng said.

Mober provides a fleet of privatelyowned vans at the disposal of entrepreneurs looking to move, ship, or deliver goods or parcel for their businesses. With the Click.Pick.Deliver strategy, Mober does not only target the big e-commerce platforms – small businesses, restaurants, shopkeepers, merchants and consumers can benefit from the courier service. While the app is currently available in Metro Manila only, Ng said there are already plans to expand the services to include places outside the National Capital Region, such as Cebu, Davao, Bacolod and Iloilo.

On-time delivery

With same- day delivery strategy, packages should always arrive the same day they’re sent out. Mober makes this possible because drivers do not handle multiple deliveries for multiple customers at the same time. The startup’s mobile app lets users track and share drivers’ progress in real-time. The process is backed by a service hotline to help with customer problems and inquiries. Upon drop off, senders receive a confirmation of delivery.

Prices depend on the type of vehicle requested and the distance between the pickup and drop off locations. Minimum fare is P500 for van and P750 for a Van-Plus service, where a van porter can help load and unload the goods from point to point. The base rate is P250 and P450, respectively with additional charges of P25 per kilometer and P2.50 per minute. Fares may also vary due to traffic, weather and other factors. Currently, Mober services are on cash basis.

Mober’s Click.Pick.Deliver philosophy may also play particularly well with online merchants like Lazada and Zalora. Theoretically, it is also convenient for users on classifieds sites like OLX, as long as their buyers are within the Metro Manila area. “When e-commerce becomes available to everyone, we believe this will change our economy as it becomes easier to do business,” Ng said.

The app, which has Book Now and Book Later features, can be downloaded at Google Play and App Store.
