Visual art exhibits galore as UE marks Caloocan Week
Three visual art exhibits are ongoing at the University of the East-Caloocan as part of the Campus’s “Kagalingan at
Kasayahan sa UE Caloocan” celebration of UE Caloocan Week 2016.
These visual art shows are spearheaded by the UE College of Fine Arts, Architecture and Design (CFAD), in cooperation with the Metrobank Foundation Inc., and the recognized UE student organizations Buklod Sining and iDream. These shows, which are in accordance with the National Arts Month celebration, include the “2016 Art Made Public Exhibit”; “Diversity: Illustration and Photography Exhibit”; and “Sining sa Silangan 2016: the Annual Arts Month College Exhibition.”
The “2016 Art Made Public Exhibit,” which is ongoing at UE Caloocan’s Administration Building walkway, is part of Metrobank Foundation’s pioneering art and design competition, Metrobank Art & Design Excellence (MADE). The Foundation has now launched “Art Made Public,” a travelling exhibit and lecture series held in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). This year’s MADE program starts off with a public exhibition showcasing previous winners as well as future programs in line with present and future seasons of MADE. The program was coupled with this year’s competition orientation starting Feb. 19, 2 pm onwards, at the UE Tan Yan Kee Academic Building, which was facilitated by contemporary artists and representatives of the Foundation.
“Diversity: Illustration and Photography Exhibit,” ongoing at the ground floor of UE Caloocan’s Tan Yan Kee Academic Building, is a joint exhibition showcasing the illustration and photography skills and creativity of members of the CFAD organizations Buklod Sining and the debuting iDream. The event is aimed at showcasing both orgs and sharing the experience of alternative art appreciation to the UE community.
“Sining sa Silangan 2016: the Annual Arts Month College Exhibition,” which is ongoing at the fifth floor lobby of the TYK Academic Building, is a gallery to showcase the talent and promise of UE CFAD students, with the exhibit serving as a gauge of their standing in the College.
