A Korean-pop-inspired political jingle entitled “2:30 (Let’s DU it)” dedicated to presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is making the rounds online with more than one million views and 21,000 shares on Facebook and YouTube as of yesterday.

The three- minute video, posted on YouTube on Feb. 22, was performed by identical twins MJ and MM Magno along with Kris Angelica, backed by three female dancers wearing white miniskirts and white crop tops.

The Magno twins, part of the Filipino band “XLR8,” were regularly seen during

GMA-7’ s Party Pilipinas show. The video started with the twins’ complaining of heavy traffic along EDSA and the alleged bullet-planting scheme at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

They have also expressed “beast mode” over the corrupt practices of some government officials and lambasted inept leaders.

“Nakaka beast mode, sige nakaw pa more. Ang daming mga corrupt, walang silbi at pasarap. Lumalala na mga adik sa droga

kaya magtago ka dahil bawal na ang bad,” the twins sang.

The Magno brothers repeatedly sang the lyrics “2:30” and “Let’s DU it.” The steps of the music video were choreographed by XB Gensan. “Super love this #2:30. Malamang pati

kalaban mapapasayaw na,” Melanie Jordao commented.

But YouTube user Jean Quinto expressed dismay with what she saw, saying that the music video was cheap. She, how- ever, praised the songwriters for coming up with sharp lyrics.

Duterte’s spokesman Peter Laviña was overwhelmed by efforts shown by supporters in the campaign.

“It is truly overwhelming the creativity of our people once they buy into an idea. We have received many song compositions from our supporters which they downloaded on YouTube or Facebook,” he told The STAR.

He also asked Duterte’s supporters, especially musicians and artists, to compile their songs, jingles and MTVs and share them on social media so that people from all walks of life would be able to hear the message of Duterte’s government.

Singer Danny Javier of the Apo Hiking Society also expressed support for the presidential bid of Duterte, saying that he likes him being a straightforward person.

“I like Mayor Duterte because he is a no-nonsense person. He tells it as it is,” he said.

Duterte, who is in Vigan City, assured voters that he would establish a corruptionfree government if he is elected president.

“I guarantee you it will be a clean government. There will be no corruption,” he said.

He has reiterated his strong stance against illegal drugs, heinous crime and corruption.

Duterte vowed to double the monthly salary of policemen and soldiers if he becomes president.

He told residents during his campaign sortie in Dagupan City last Wednesday that aside from salary increase, he would also provide free education to their children.

Duterte said this would inspire policemen and soldiers to work harder and avoid getting involved in illegal activities.
