Out of the Blue
Renowned Dutch timepiece brand TW Steel recently welcomed an exciting fashion statement with its newest Blue Steel collection.
To highlight the latest Blue Steel Canteen watches, the brand’s local partner recently held a special VIP screening of Zoolander 2.0, starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, at the EDSA Shangri-La Plaza Cinema.
More than just a timepiece, Blue Steel is also the iconic pose of the movie character Derek Zoolander, portrayed by Ben Stiller in the movie Zoolander, which was first shown in 2001.
The Blue Steel is set to take the world-famous Canteen Style into a bolder and more prominent stance in the fashion industry. The revamped Canteen collection, featuring 45mm and 50mm case sizes, comes in: three-hand, Chronograph and Automatic. As with the 2015 collection, each of the watches is distinct with the three- hand executions incorporating a shiny bezel and mid- pieces on the bracelet. The Chronograph editions sport a tachymeter on the bezel while showcasing a brushed steel bracelet. Finally, the Automatic timepieces have a hammered bezel and hammered mid-pieces on the bracelet for a stylish and trendy look.
In addition to the different sizes, movements and design, the Blue Steel watches will carry varying colors adding to the widerange of possible designs. The options include a Steel bracelet, a PVD Rose Gold bracelet and a two-tone edition: a combination of Steel with a PVD Rose Gold finish on the mid- piece of the bracelet.
(TW Steel watches are available at TW Steel Boutiques in Century Mall, Podium, Shangri-La Plaza, SM Aura, SM Makati, SM Megamall and SM North EDSA; Lucerne, Swissgear, Wristpod, Le Temps Newport Mall, and Adora Greenbelt 5.)
To mark its fifth year, Bordeaux Rendezvous, an annual series of wine- tasting events featuring Bordeaux wines, embarked on a tour in Asia. Participating French wine merchants were keen on raising the French region’s profile in Asia.
Bordeaux Rendezvous made Manila the last stop of its Asian tour. The wine- tasting event was held at Txanton in Makati City where French wine ambassadors introduced to the guests 18 premium chateaux, or French vineyard estates, and gave in- depth explai nat ions on their prestigious labels.
The w ines from 18 classified growths from the Bordeaux region, the largest wineproducing region in France, came through the French wine merchant Barriere Freres in partnership with local wine importers. In the Philippines, we have fine wine importer AWC Philippines to thank for the Rendezvous.
(Txanton is located on the second floor of SmithBell Building, 2294 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.)
