NAIA power failure

-

It is sadly surprising that instead of firing them, P-Noy just summoned and gave specific instruction to Secretary Abaya and GM Honrado to ensure no repetition of the NAIA power failure should ever occur. And yet, P-Noy was never swift and patently enraged over the repetitive breakdown of the MRT and more importantly the danger such breakdown posed to commuters.

Perhaps because the NAIA power failure surely invited the ire of foreign travelers and international attention that he thought by giving such instruction would earn him precious pogi points in the international community. Well, except for his apologists in the Palace he hasn’t been heard shouting at his DILG head and PNP chief for the Kidapawan farmers’ killing. In fact, Secretary Alcala was not reported to have been summoned to the palace for not attending to the need of the farmers.

I remember when NAIA was still known as MIA or Manila International Airport during Marcos time when travelers enjoyed staying at the airport and no aircraft flew hours beyond its takeoff or landing schedule. There was no point at all changing its name to NAIA to recognize Ninoy’s legacy when the only thing his wife and son did was to not do anything substantive to improve the service at the country’s premier airport and do some justice to Ninoy’s memory. – JOSE G.
