Hungry burglar caught with cooking pot

A burglar was caught in Marikina City yesterday when he lifted the cover of a cooking pot, which fell to the floor and alerted the occupants of a house he had broken into.

Alex Dorado rushed out of the house of Maricris Cruz, who shouted for help. Neighbors and barangay officials chased Dorado until they cornered him, police said.

Cruz’s mobile phone and other belongings were confiscated from Dorado, according to police.

A police investigator said Dorado, a vagabond, slipped into Cruz’s house, stole gadgets and other items, then went to kitchen, apparently looking for something to eat.

Dorado is detained at the Marikina police headquarters pending the filing of robbery charges against him.
