Contemporary a cappella at UDM with Ryan Cayabyab
Maestro Ryan Cayabyab will hold a free a cappella seminar workshop on contemporary arranging and performance at the Universidad de Manila (UDM) on April 20, Wednesday, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Justice Cecilia Munoz Palma Hall.
The seminar workshop will be participated in by various singing groups from among the local and state universities in Metro Manila.
The event will serve as a venue to enhance contemporary a cappella arranging and group singing skills as well as to nurture camaraderie among the participants.
Joining Maestro Ryan are the Acapelago and Pinopela, the country’s best known a cappella singing groups, both grand champions of the Akapela Open.
The Akapela Open was spearheaded by Maestro Ryan, popularly known as Mr. C, and his esteemed The Music School of Ryan Cayabyab, in partnership with PLOTSMART Foundation and One Meralco Foundation.
It is the national competition for contemporary a cappella singing which aims to cultivate a community of a cappella singers in the country.
In his desire to share his expertise with as wide an audience as possible, Cayabyab is partnering with the Universidad de Manila to open up opportunities for local talents who have the potential, are eager to learn, but who could not otherwise afford the chance to enhance their a cappella skill.
The UDM, located beside Manila City Hall at the Mehan Gardens, is a tuition free public tertiary institution established by the City of Manila catering to over 15,000 students from the city’s six districts.
