“Success is when opportunity meets readiness.” This is one of the favorite sayings of Orange Blush Salon owner Joby Linsangan-Moreno, who is definitely ready to put her big plans into action this year.
One of the things they are preparing to do this year is to launch Orange Blush Salon as a national brand. For them, this simply means that whenever people think of having a salon service done, Orange Blush Salon will be top of mind the way that established salon chains are. Orange Blush Salon was launched more than 10 years ago when it opened its first branch in a mall in Cabanatuan City in 2003. It took Joby P30,000 to put it up, an amount that she saved from her salary and with the help of her parents and family. She originally wanted to name the salon just Orange because it is her favorite color, but the name was deemed too generic, so they added the word “blush.”
Now, after successfully establishing the brand in the province, and after a long wait, they are finally expanding into Metro Manila as they open their first branch here on P. Tuazon in Cubao. There, they will have not just a salon but also a franchise office and a training room for their staff.
“We feel that this is the time for our salon to be launched as a national brand,” says Joby. An astute businesswoman who loves the beauty business, Joby is a registered medical technologist. It wasn’t really the “done” thing in their family to go into business (she comes from a family of professionals; her sister is a doctor, and she has two brothers, one of whom is a lawyer, and the other, a chemical engineer).
Along with the launch of its first salon in Metro Manila, Joby is also introducing what they call Sakto Deals or special packages for the summer for its hair rebonding. There are three packages, available in all their branches and for any hair length and type: Sakto Deal 1 (Rebond with cellophane, Keratin treatment, hair spa and hair shine treatments for P999); Sakto Deal 2 (Rebond with permanent color, cellophane, Keratin treatment, Hair Spa and Hair Shine treatments for P1,499); and Sakto Deal
3 (Rebond with Brazilian Keratin treatment, cellophane, Hair Spa and Hair Shine treatments for P2,499). All the services come with a warranty, a biscuits buffet and free orange juice. Why hair rebonding? According to Joby, it’s a proven fact that most Filipinas love straight and soft hair, that’s why rebonding services are a big part of what they offer in the salon. Rebonding services comprise at least 30 percent of their core business. This summer, aside from strengthening the rebonding services via the Sakto Deals, they are also introducing other summerinspired services, such as Cooling Hair Treatments to beat the summer heat, mentholated hot oil and hair spa, mentholated foot scrub, and bright, happy colors for the nails.
Joby confirms that rebonding is really popular with its clients because she and her staff go the extra mile to make sure that clients leave the salon satisfied with the way their hair looks. They don’t even have to be afraid of the application of chemicals to their hair, for fear of destroying it. Joby and her staff use proven local and international brands for the rebonding services.
“It (rebonding) is a very popular service in Orange Blush Salon, because our salon services come with an after-sales warranty, especially for hair rebonding, to ensure that our services were done properly, and to ensure that customers are satisfied with our services. We also welcome touch up treatments because at Orange Blush Salon, we believe our customers’ welfare and needs are our top priority,” explains Joby. They also make sure to give their clients hair care tips for rebonded hair.
“For rebonded hair, we advise our clients to always towel-dry or air-dry their hair after a bath and to always use conditioner after shampooing,” says Joby. “It is also important to comb hair with a wide-tooth comb while hair is wet to avoid damaging the hair strands. It is also advisable not to tie-up (ponytail) one’s hair when hair is newly rebonded.”
