Chiz winner in vice presidenti­al debate – SWS/TV5 survey

About one in three Filipino voters named Sen. Francis Escudero as the one who came out the best in the first and only vice presidenti­al debate held at the University of Santo Tomas last Sunday, the latest TV5- commission­ed Bilang Pilipino Social Weather Stations Mobile Survey showed.

Respondent­s were asked who they think had the best performanc­e in the recent debate, 33 percent chose Escudero, 24 percent named Liberal Party bet Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo, 22 percent picked Sen. Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., 14 percent cited Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, four percent were for Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, and one percent cited Sen. Gregorio Honasan II.

The survey was conducted last Monday, April 11. It had a sampling error margins of plus or minus four percentage points for national percentage­s.

Of the 1,200 original panel respondent­s of the SWS Mobile Survey, 628 or 52 percent sent their responses to the April 11 poll: 162 in Metro Manila, 155 in Balance Luzon, 160 in Visayas, and 151 in Mindanao.

In Metro Manila, Escudero was most mentioned with 31 percent as the debate’s best, followed by Marcos (26 percent), Cayetano (25 percent), Robredo (16 percent), and Trillanes (one percent).

In balance Luzon, Escudero was most mentioned with 40 percent, followed by Marcos (29 percent), Robredo (21 percent), Cayetano (four percent), and Trillanes (three percent).

In the Visayas, Escudero and Robredo were the two most mentioned with 30 percent and 29 percent, respective­ly, followed by Cayetano (18 percent), Marcos (13 percent), Trillanes (five percent), and Honasan (one percent).

In Mindanao, Robredo topped the survey with 29 percent, followed by Escudero ( 24 percent) and Cayetano (21 percent). Marcos obtained 15 percent, followed by Trillanes (eight percent) and Honasan (two percent).

Escudero was most mentioned in overall urban areas with 35 percent.

Escudero, Robredo, and Marcos were most cited in overall rural areas, garnering 30 percent, 27 percent and 25 percent, respective­ly.

Robredo was most mentioned in class ABC at 44 percent, while Escudero was most mentioned in class D at 35 percent.

Robredo (31 percent) and Escudero (28 percent) were most cited in class E.

Among both men and women, Escudero was most mentioned, followed by Robredo and Marcos.

Escudero was most cited among 18 to 34, ranging from 33 to 36 percent.

Among 35-44, Escudero (32 percent) and Marcos (31 percent) were most mentioned.
