Binay killer of people’s money – Duterte

Presidential candidate Dav- ao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte hit back at Vice President Jejomar Binay, who earlier called the mayor “berdugo (killer) of the poor.”

Duterte said that Binay is the real berdugo of the poor because the Vice President had stolen the money of the Filipino people.

“Ako daw berdugo, ako daw magiging berdugo (he claims I will be a killer). My God, Vice

President, ikaw ang berdugo ng pera ng bayan (you are the killer of the people’s money),” Duterte said before thousands of supporters during a concert in Taguig City.

Binay said in a radio interview that it is the moral responsibility of the people to dissuade everyone from voting for Duterte.

He also said that Duterte could kill only poor people, especially children and the elderly.

But Duterte pointed out that he has never had any woman or child killed, saying that they are better off being placed in rehabilitation.

During the concert, Duterte challenged Binay to a debate about morality, graft and corruption.

He believes that he is the only candidate who can talk with a straight face about drugs, criminality and graft and corruption.

Duterte also joked that he would concede the presidency to Binay and Liberal party presidential bet Manuel Roxas II but only in 2022 after his term if elected president on May 9.

“Siguro sa 2022 sila nga, sila na (Maybe in 2022 they will have the chance). I’m ready to concede sa (in) 2022, good luck

na lang sa kanilang dalawa sa (to both of them in) 2022,” Duterte said. Duterte, who took the solo lead in recent opinion surveys, said that he would work hard to maintain his numbers.

He hopes that his rating would remain until Election Day.

“I’m hopeful. I will sustain the momentum, the traction until election day,” he said.

Duterte also appealed to his supporters yesterday to help him secure the ballots during the critical moments of canvassing the May 9 polls.

Duterte explained that he does not have the money to fund a machinery that would guard his votes.

“To those who believe in me, I hope you give your support to me and I hope you understand that I do not have the money.

Kaya magdala na lang kayo ng (So you should bring your own) food or whatever is necessary during the critical hours of the counting and the canvassing of ballots,” Duterte said.

He said his volunteers in the canvassing of ballots are making their investment for the future of the country.

He admitted that in these elections, he really has a hard time since he does not have the money to sustain his campaign.

Duterte likewise asked for more prayers as he thanked his supporters after he emerged on top of various presidential surveys, the latest of which was that of the Social Weather Stations from March 30 to April 2, where he garnered 27 percent as against Sen. Grace Poe who fell to second place with 23 percent.

Duterte’s vice presidential bet Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano topped the first and only vice presidential debate held at the University of Santo Tomas on Sunday, a political analyst said yesterday.

University of the Philippines professor and political analyst Ranjit Rye said Cayetano emerged as the winner in all rounds of the debate.
