The beauty tool that makes brush cleaning a breeze
DEAR RISSA,
I love doing my makeup, but what I hate the most is cleaning my makeup brushes. My hands get so dry washing them and it seems to take forever. Is there any trick to make the chore quicker? SANDRA
Clean brushes are a must. When women break out, we often blame makeup. But dirty brushes are also a big culprit — they constantly touch your skin and are a breeding ground for bacteria. I know, washing your brushes can dry the hands because we usually swirl the bristles soaked in cleaning solution on the palm, and this can get very drying. But I realized what makes the chore
quicker: an efficient brush cleaner and a brush-cleaning mat. Some people use liquid dish detergent to effectively get rid of oily makeup. I really like using my fave Pond’s facial wash. It does an amazing job of keeping my skin clean from dirt, sebum, and makeup so I’m confident it does the same superb job on my brushes. Plus, it’s a product that’s meant to be used on skin so I feel safer knowing my makeup brushes, which touch my face, are treated with skin-safe products. I also recently discovered the Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Mat (available at Pure Beauty in Serendra, Fort). It features different textures to wash both your face and eye brushes. The mat is also equipped with suction cups which you can attach to the sink for easy brush cleaning. This brushcleaning mat is life-changing. The textured brushes are so efficient in getting rid of makeup residue that it has cut the time in half and encouraged me to be more regular in cleaning my brushes. Hope this beauty tool will work for you, too! RISSA

How to wear paperbag-waist pants
DEAR LUCY,
How do I wear a paperbag-waist and slouchy, low-rise trousers? I see this trend on Hollywood celebrities online, but am not very sure how to pull off the look. GWEN
It is very easy to pull off, actually. The paperbag waist is wonderful because it can be worn on most body types. If you have a slim mid section, wear the cinch at your natural waist. A fuller figure can get away with this by pairing it with a tailored top. Whatever the case, the only sacred rule is to always wear a top tucked in the paperbag waist. For the low-rise trousers, the slouchy effect is spot-on and is a fresh trend that veers away from all the clingy silhouettes. Always wear the pants with heels (a pointy one will make the look sleek) and a tailored top, nothing loose, please! If you have a toned mid section, those slouchy pants will look great with a cropped top. LUCY
