BACOLOD CITY – With only 72 days before he steps down, President Aquino yesterday said he would miss attending inaugurations around the country.

“I only have 72 remaining days in office, and I will certainly miss attending inaugurations such as this one,” Aquino said after he launched a solar power plant in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

The solar plant is operated by the San Carlos Sun Power, a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corp.

“I am optimistic about our future as a nation because we have reliable, wellmeaning partners in you, and more importantly, because I am confident that our people will not let our gains go to waste and will choose to continue treading the straight path,” Aquino said.

“I am hopeful that even as I step down, Aboitiz will remain a consistent partner of the government,” the President added.

The plant is the first solar powered plant of Aboitiz in San Carlos. It is located on a 75-hectare property inside the San Carlos Ecozone in Barangay Punao. It is projected to deliver 82 GWh of renewable energy to the Visayas grid annually.

The President was joined by Aboitiz chief executive officer Erramon Aboitiz, Energy Secretary Zenaida Monzada, Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and other officials during the inauguration.
