Pres. Aquino leads turnover of Mahindra Enforcer patrol jeeps to PNP

-

A total of 144 Mahindra Enforcer police patrol jeeps have been distributed by President Aquino to further boost the capability of the country’s policemen in ensuring public safety in a ceremonial turnover of brand- new police patrol jeeps and fire trucks at the Quezon Memorial Circle recently.

The Mahindra Enforcer patrol jeeps were part of the 189 units acquired under the PNP capability enhancement program. The new vehicles have been issued to city police offices and stations to improve their crime-fighting efforts.

President Aquino said he would be leaving a modern and reliable Bureau of Fire Protection ( BFP) and Philippine National Police ( PNP) by the end of his term.

“Kung dati, “kawawang cowboy” ang turing sa ating mga pulis dahil sa mga luma’t siraing patrol jeeps, ngayon, may bago at dekalidad nang mga sasakyan o “workhorse” na kanilang katuwang sa 24/ 7 na pagpapatrolya [ If the policemen were previously regarded as poor cowboys due to old and broken patrol jeeps, today they have new and quality vehicles or workhorses needed for their 24/ 7 patrol],” Aquino said.

Aquino said each patrol jeep has a seating capacity of 12 persons, could traverse floods and rivers, and drive though any road condition. Each vehicle also went through the intense parameters set by the PNP.

The President said the government has delivered 1,490 patrol jeeps from May 2015 to March 2016. Once the 144 vehicles are delivered to the towns, Aquino said this will be the first time that all police stations in cities and municipalities have at least one patrol jeep.

The Enforcer patrol jeeps were distributed to the following regions: Reg. 1- 9 units, Reg. 2- 4 units, Reg 3-14 units, Reg. 4A-18 units, Reg. 4B- 2 units, Reg. 5- 7 units, Reg. 6- 3 units, Reg. 7- 10 units, Reg. 8- 7 units, Reg. 9- 5 units, Reg. 10- 9 units, Reg. 11- 6 units, Reg. 12- 5 units, Reg. 13- 6 units, Reg. 18- 19 units, NCRPO - 16 units, COR- 2 units, and ARMM- 2 units.
