When TV shows and characters come to life
When viewers are given the chance to meet their favorite TV characters and stars in real-life, the first thing that they will do is to take photos to immortalize the one-of-a-kind experience.
For one weekend in the Philippines, TV viewers were given this rare opportunity to be part of the world of their favorite TV shows where they took home lots of photos that captured their happy memories at an experiential cable fair dubbed as SKY Alive.
But the heart of SKY Alive was more than just world-class entertainment. It was a special gift of Skycable Corporation to Filipino families for their endless support as the cable service provider culminated its 25th anniversary.
With content as its strength, SKY made its vision to bring the world closer to Filipino families a reality through
SKY Alive. But more importantly, it became a platform for Filipino families to nurture and strengthen their bond.
In fact, thousands of families attended and enjoyed the spectacular activities and shows at SKY Alive.
“It’s fun. It’s an experience, especially for the kids,” exclaimed Jessielou Gelbolingo who hails from Davao. She was one of the three lucky SKY subscribers who won an all-expense-paid family trip to Manila to experience SKY Alive.
Jessielou and her family’s first stop was the enthralling booth of HBO that displayed the famous iron throne from its hit series, Game of Thrones. And like other families, they gladly squeezed in together for a photo at the iron throne with cosplayers dressed as Game of
Thrones characters Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.
Afterwards, Jessielou’s family then roamed around the theme park-inspired cable fair that had alluring displays and gimmicks from various booths like the actual cab from AXN’s game show Cash
Cab Philippines, the music recording booth of RTL CBS Entertainment, the zombies from AMC’s The Walking Dead, the ship from History’s The Vikings, and the mini-newsroom of CNN, among others.
ANC and Knowledge Channel also championed their advocacy at SKY
Alive by letting families ask questions to presidential candidates and encouraging families to pledge support to fight for education.
But bringing to life the extensive and rich channel line-up of SKYcable was not an easy feat. It required SKY to work closely with its channel partners who shared their vision.
“We wanted to ensure that families Girls, can actually experience the content they see on SKYcable so we asked our channel partners to support this event and they did so wholeheartedly,” said March Ventosa, COO of Skycable Corp.
SKY’s channel partners went all out to give Filipino families an unforgettable experience. Aside from having booths, they brought their well-loved TV stars and characters to SKY Alive to warmly welcome families.
TV favorites like Cartoon Network’s The Power Puff
Animax’s OO-Kun and Ashley Gosiengfiao, Nickelodeon’s Spongebob Squarepants, Patrick Star, Dora The Explorer and Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hero’s Myrtle Sarrosa, Cinema One
Single/Single’s Shaina Magdayao, MYX and MTV VJs, and cosplayers dressed as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, among others went around to snap selfies together with families. Even SKY’s mother company, ABS-CBN
Corp., showed full-force support.
ABS-CBN executive adviser to the chairman, COO and president of ABSCBN University Charo Santos-Concio with her granddaughters Julia and Talia graced the event to formally open SKY Alive.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak and his family attended the affair and tried out as many activities as they could.
To cap off the grand cable fair, ABSCBN held a mini-concert featuring some of its most sought-after stars such as It’s Showtime’s all-boy dance group Hashtags, Kapamilya artists Darren Espanto, Erik Santos, Morisette Amon and Jed Madela, among others who all showcased thrilling performances that delighted the crowd.
SKY Alive was truly an epitome of Skycable Corp.’s superior content and bold vision. But more importantly, SKY
Alive embodied the shared vision of ABS-CBN and SKY — to constantly find innovative ways to be in the service of the Filipino people.
