Layoso rules TBAM mixed open masters

Benshir Layoso hit a perfect 300 on the 13th game and went on to capture the mixed Open masters crown in the 27th Tenpin Bowling Affiliatio­n of Makati Inc. (TBAM)-Boysen Easter Open Bowling Championsh­ip at the Superbowl, Makati Cinema Square in Makati City.

Layoso, representi­ng MTBA-NLEX, wrested the lead with that 300 then earned the top-seed going to the shoot-out round which he dominated en route to ruling the centerpiec­e event of the tournament organized by TBAM tournament director Bonnie Solis.

Layoso topped the qualifying round with 3160 while Kevin Cu (3119), national player Kenneth Chua (3107) and Nicco Olaivar (3090), also made it to the shoot-out of the tournament supported by Boysen Paints, Prima Pasta, Cebuana Pera Padala and Alveo Land.

Olaivar of PBA, who finished fourth in the qualifiers, had to string five strikes to score 214 in a dramatic shoot-out first match to upset Cu of PBAP Bowlmart (207) and Chua of TBAM-Prima (204). He advanced to the Final match to face the top seed Layoso.

Layoso, for his part, easily dominated Olaivar in the two-game-total finals, 226-198 and 190-180, to pocket the title. Olaivar settled for the first runner-up trophy, while last year’s defending mixed open champion Krizziah Tabora failed to qualify to the shoot-out round, finishing only at No. 6 with 3067.
