Leni tops 10 regions; Bongbong takes 8

Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo and Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. dominated the vice presidenti­al race in almost all 19 regions in the country based on the partial unofficial election results tallied by the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsibl­e Voting (PPCRV).

Election returns gathered by the PPCRV from May 9 to 12 showed that Robredo took the lead in 10 regions. Marcos received the highest number of votes from eight regions.

Another vice presidenti­al candidate, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, garnered the highest votes only in one region.

The PPCRV said Robredo obtained the highest number of votes in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Negros Island Region, Regions 4-A (Calabarzon), 4-B (Mimaropa), 5,6, 7, 9, 10 and 13.

Robredo hails from Region 5. She topped the vice presidenti­al race in Region 6, which is the bailiwick of administra­tion standard bearer Manuel Roxas II.

The so-called“solid north” delivered the votes for Marcos.

He received the highest

number of votes in Region 1 (Ilocos Region) and Region 8 (Eastern Visayas). Marcos topped the race for vice president in the Cordillera Administra­tve Region, National Capital Region, Regions 2, 3 and 12 as well as the overseas absentee voting (OAV).

Cayetano beat his rivals in Region 11 (Davao Region), which is the bailiwick of incoming president Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

The vice presidenti­al race remains tight between Robredo and Marcos, with the congresswo­man leading by more than 216,000 votes as of 3:45 p.m. yesterday.

The PPCRV said only 37 percent of the votes for OAV have so far been transmitte­d. In the presidenti­al race, Duterte lorded it over 11 regions, namely Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, National Capital Region, Regions 3, 4-A, 7, 9, 10, Region 11, 12 and 13.

He also won the overseas voting. Roxas took the lead in Negros Island Region, Regions 4-B and 8 and his bailiwick Region 6. Sen. Grace Poe topped the presidenti­al elections in Cordillera Administra­tive Region, Regions 1 and 5.

Vice President Jejomar Binay of the United Nationalis­t Alliance received the highest number of votes in Region 2.
