Quibol, Beltran tow Pueblo qualifiers for Junior Masters

Chondie Quibol and Samantha Beltran scored contrasting victories in Class A to lead qualifiers in the Mindanao leg of the Philippine Golf Foundation Junior Masters Series at the Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club in Cagayan de Oro.

Quibol fired rounds of 76 and 74 for 150 and a one-stroke victory over Elee Bisera who had 74-77-151 in the boys division while Beltran (9389-182) had an easier time beating Almica Miñoza (97-95-192) in the girls side.

Lloyd Labrador, Yvonne Bisera, Seo Dong-bin, Alessandra Nagayo, Zeus Sara, Abby Abarcas, Cliff Nuneza and Velinda Castil were the other division winners of the 36-hole tourney also supported by Philippine Airlines.

Except for the Class E winners, all division champions will represent Mindanao at the national finals set May 31-June 3 at the South Links Golf Club in Las Piñas.

Labrador and Yvonne Bisera were the Class B champions with Labrador (79-84-163) edging Coby Rolida (77-87-164) by one and Bisera (71-78149) foiling the last day rally of Martina Miñoza (81-70-151) to win by two strokes.

In Class C, Seo (78-81-159) beat Timothy Clark Co (80-85-165) in the boys division and Nagayo proving too classy for Leslie Ecoy (102-88-190) with her scores of 78-81-159.

Sara and Abarcas completed the list of qualifiers with their runaway wins in Class D. Sara (83-80-163) won by 12 over Mark Ivan Parilla (89-86-175) while the lead of Abarcas (89-87-176) over Kiara Montebon (103-88-191) was even bigger.

The national finals of the tourney conducted by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines will also feature the winners of the Northern Luzon, Manila and Visayas legs.
