Ace racers, celebrity drivers compete in Vios Cup

Toyota gears up for the 2016 Vios Cup second leg this weekend as it brings the waku-doki motorsport­s experience back to Manila with another huge field participat­ing at Filinvest City in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

“In each season of the Vios Cup, Toyota makes it a point to stage this waku-doki festival in Manila. From McKinley West in Fort Bonifacio, to the Bayside area of Mall of Asia in Pasay, now to Filinvest City in Alabang. This year, we decided to bring it to a new venue in order for the motoring enthusiast­s here in the south of Manila, be able to witness the fun that motorsport­s brings,” said Toyota Motor Philippine­s (TMP) president Satoru Suzuki.

A total of 52 racers composed of 44 individual teams and eight celebrity racers will battle it out for top honors in three categories, including Super Sporting Class, Sporting Class and Promotiona­l Class, of the event sponsored by the No. 1 automotive brand in the country.

Spicing up the event is celebrity race featuring Arci Muñoz, Jericho Rosales, Sam YG, Joyce Pring, Phoemela Baranda, Fabio Ide and Jinno Rufino.

The event program will be hosted by racers and motorsport­s enthusiast­s James Deakin and Gaby dela Merced.

Meanwhile, there will also be food trucks and kiddie activities for the whole family while a meet-and-greet session will be held for one of the Fast and the Furious stars, the Drift king himself, Keiichi Tsuchiya.

Tsuchiya will perform a special and exclusive drifting exhibition.
