Meet the new Orgasm
To have created a shade of blush embraced by women of all ages, all over the world is no easy feat. I can barely find the right shade for my own face — what more a universal shade that flatters all skin tones? Since Nars launched the Orgasm Blush in 1999 (it’s been that long and people are still talking about it), it became a household name, racy innuendos aside. It was a cult favorite because it was like a secret, a private joke that we could wear and feel good about.
“I never expected it to be so successful. Blush is one of my favorite products and now seemed like the right time to celebrate Orgasm. It gives women who haven’t yet experienced it, a great reason to try it,” says François Nars. “Orgasm is special because it suits all skin tones. The pink color and subtle shimmer gives you as natural flush. It’s flattering for so many women.”
The versatility of the color, the sheerness of the texture, and the unforgettable name all contributed to its success. “I actually first created the name, then the shade — I wanted something shocking,” Nars says.
Recently, Nars reintroduced the Orgasm Blush with a new campaign that fea- tures Italian model MariaCarla Boscono, which François Nars shot himself. At the launch, international makeup artist Jonathan Wu shared a few tips on using blush: “It’s just makeup. There are no rules, but if you like to change up your style, you can always play around. However, a lot of women don’t like shimmer, so pat on a bit of translucent powder on top. So that tones it down. When you apply your blush, if you want it to look more natural looking, slide the brush across your nose.” Nars Orgasm Blush is available at Rustan’s and Nars boutiques.
