Bridge collapses in Pampanga

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – A portion of the bridge connecting Candaba, Pampanga and Baliwag, Bulacan collapsed on Friday.

Councilor Nelson Alonzo said the approach of the bridge in Barangay San Agustin in Candaba was affected.

Commuters and motorists were advised to take the San Luis-Candaba road to go to the public market and Candaba municipal hall. The bridge, which crosses the Candaba swamp, connects 11 barangays in the town.

Residents blamed poor engineering design and inferior material quality for the collapse.
