Leading telecoms provider Globe Telecom and US entertainment giant Disney have linked up to bring the Disney Channels app to smartphone users, allowing them to watch or download movies and shows from the child-friendly channel.

Disney Southeast Asia, together with Globe, launched the new mobile video streaming service via three new entertainment apps – Disney Channel App, Disney XD App and Disney Junior App – last May 27.

Along with local technology distributor Cellprime Distribution Corp., Disney also launched the offering of their Disney mobile smartphones to the Filipino market, which is available exclusively through Globe’s myStarter postpaid plans beginning at P750 per month.

“We’re excited to offer Disney fans of all ages more opportunities to watch, interact, personalize and enjoy Disney shows when and where they want it,” said Natasha Malhotra, general manager of Disney Southeast Asia’s branded media and content.

“The Disney Channels Apps feature a fun and engaging online Disney environment, designed around Disney characters and storytelling on a simple, child- friendly user interface. Parents will love the Disney Channels Apps as it provides a secure viewing environment to keep their kids engaged and entertained,” Malhotra added.

Disney and Globe also announced that Disney Mobile smartphones would be available in all Globe stores and will come with price plans that bundle six months’ access to the Disney channels apps.

“Collaborating with Walt Disney Southeast Asia has expanded our opportunities here at Globe to provide more quality products and content for the whole family. Since we formalized the collaboration in 2015, we’ve been able to bring exciting movie experiences for our customers. This year, we further strengthen our association with the iconic Disney brand by not only exclusively carrying the first ever Disney Mobile smartphones, but this time also giving our customers the Disney Channel Apps so that they can enjoy the best Disney programs on their mobile device,” said Dan Horan, Globe senior advisor for consumer business.

“We are proud to bring our partnership with Disney further, as they entrust us with the introduction of Disney Mobile, their first mobile phone brand in Southeast Asia,” said Eric Yu, chief executive officer of CellPrime Distribution Corp.

“Earlier this year, CellPrime launched special edition CloudFones and CloudPads that come with exclusive Disney, Marvel and Star Wars accessories and a collectible range of Disney Mobile accessories that can be used by all brands. Now, the new Disney Mobile smartphones are the latest innovations that we are offering to everyone who loves Disney,” he said.

The Disney Channels Apps are available for download from the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store and feature both live streaming of the Disney Channels and videoondemand service offering more than 100 full episodes for eligible Globe subscribers.

All Globe prepaid and postpaid subscribers who sign up for their interactive account will enjoy an initial 30- day free trial.

Globe Telecom is the first telco in Southeast Asia to exclusively offer Disney Mobile smartphones through its most affordable myStarter postpaid plans for as low as P750 per month.

Created for the trendsetting Disney fan and themed around popular Disney franchises, these smartphones carry the signature aesthetic of the Disney brand from its lively colors to matching themed accessories.

The first Disney Mobile range for the Philippines comes in three design themes – Mickey Mouse, Frozen and Disney Princess. Customers can go to any Globe store or online to get the plans.
