With her victory, Alisan Porter proves that she could have a second chance as a performer

It was indeed a triumphant comeback for Christina Aguilera as coach of The Voice (Season 10). The pop star scored her first winning talent with Alisan Porter, a former child actress who emerged as champion of the reality singing competition this season.

It was also a grand comeback for Alisan, who is perhaps best remembered for playing the title role in the 1991 Hollywood comedy flick, Curly Sue, which teamed her with comedian Jim Belushi and directed by John Hughes.

A mother of two children and stepmom to one, Alisan earlier battled drug addiction but has been sober for eight years now. Her victory in The Voice

Season 10 proved that she could, indeed, have a second chance as a performer. Christina, who is an original coach of

The Voice, turned her swivel chair during the Blind Auditions after she heard Alisan sing Linda Ronstadt’s sentimental signature piece, Blue Bayou. That started their creative collaboration.

During the first night of the finals, Alisan rendered her original song,

Down the Road, did a duet of You’ve Got a Friend with coach Christina, then belted out the powerful Somewhere from the

West Side Story. The last song was what probably sealed her The Voice victory.

All four coaches, including Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams and Blake Shelton, had their respective talents who competed in the finals. The last time this happened was back in Season Two, won by Jermaine Paul of Team Blake.

The finalists this season were Team Blake’s country-rock crooner Adam Wakefield who was the runner-up, Team Pharrell’s Nebraska pre-school teacher Hannah Huston on third place and Team Adam’s Michigan musician Laith Al-Saadi, fourth runner-up.

In the star-studded finale, all four finalists did a duet with guest celebrity performers who influenced them in one way or another. Alisan sang with Jennifer Nettles, Adam performed with Alison Kraus, Hannah did a duet with former

The Voice coach CeeLo Green and Laith shared the stage with Joe Walsh.

Ariana Grande did a well-applauded, powerful duet, Dangerous Woman, with her idol, Christina. Sia delighted the audience with her new single, Cheap Thrills, where she was joined onstage by Australian singer-songwriter Maddie Ziegler. Former One Direction member Zayn Malik dished out his latest single, Like I Would, lifted from his solo debut album.

The Voice Season 10 was hosted by Carson Daly and aired on AXN.
