The ENLS course is designed to help healthcare professionals improve patient care and outcomes during the critical first hours of a patient’s neurological emergency. These are acute non-traumatic weakness; acute ischemic stroke; acute stroke; airway, ventilation and sedation; approach to the comatose patient; intracerebral hemorrhage; meningitis and encephalitis; intracranial hypertension; herniation; pharmacotherapy; resuscitation following cardiac arrest; spinal cord compression; status epilepticus; subarachnoid hemorrhage, and traumatic brain injury.

On-line examination will be available during and after the sessions.

The goals of ENLS include improving the care of patients with neurological emergencies; providing a set of approaches that lists important steps in managing a patient with a potential neurological emergency; attempting to standardize emergency neurological care by consensus of practicing and research physicians; providing education to anyone dealing with neurological emergencies; and identifying areas where research is needed to improve the care of patients.
