Napocor to bid out Angat Dam flood, warning system

State-run National Power Corp. (Napocor) is bidding out a P206.7-million contract to upgrade the flood forecasting and warning system of Angat Dam.

In a bid bulletin published yesterday, Napocor announced that it is looking for interested parties to implement the Angat Dam and Dyke Strengthening Project- Package 2, which is the upgrading of the facility’s Flood Forecasting and Warning System.

The contract, which has an approved budget of P206.71 million, would be awarded on a “per schedule basis.”

Schedule 1 is for the Enhancement of Angat Dam Flood Forecasting and Warning System amounting to P50.78 million and Schedule 2 is for the Enhancement of Communication Network for Angat Dam Flood Forecasting and Warning System amounting to P61.71 million.

Schedule 3 covers the Supply, Installation and Commissioning of Spillway Gate Indication and Controls for Angat Dam Flood Forecasting and Warning System for Dam Operations amounting to P8.47 million while Schedule 4 is for the Supply, Delivery, Installation, Test and Commissioning of Turbine and Bypass Valve Flow Metering Including Configuration and Installation of Scada System amounting to P21.57 million.

Schedule 5 is for the Supply, Delivery, Installation, Test and Commissioning of CBand Weather Radar amounting to P51 million and lastly, Schedule 6 covers the Supply, Delivery, Installation, Test and Commissioning of Geosynchronous Weather Satellite Ground Station amounting to P13.19 million.

Napocor has set a pre-bid conference for the whole contract on June 13, 2 p.m. while the deadline for submission and opening of bids is scheduled on June 27, 2 p.m.

Last month, Napocor signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for an improved Flood Forecasting and Warning System for Dam Operation in Angat Dam.

With the agreement, MWSS transferred a P237.16-million fund to Napocor for the upgrading of the facility’s instrumentation.

The upgrade of the Flood Forecasting and Warning System are two of the four packages of the Angat Dam and Dyke Strengthening Project.

These two projects are funded by the National Government amounting to a total of P553.3 million.

Other packages of the Angat Dam and Dyke Strengthening Project such as the strengthening works and consulting services would be undertaken by the Angat Hydropower Corp.
