Globe sees 53% data revenue growth

Globe Telecom Inc. recorded a 53 percent growth in revenues from its corporate data business in the first quarter from a year ago due to rising demand for bandwidth and other data-related services of enterprise­s.

The Ayala- led telco said revenues from corporate data business reached P2.3 billion in the first quarter, up from the P1.5 billion in the same period last year amid strong demand for bandwidth and other datarelate­d services of enterprise and corporate clients.

Bayan Telecommun­ications Inc. also contribute­d to the growth in revenues as its operations were integrated to Globe.

The telco ended the first quarter with net profit of P4.3 billion, higher than the P4.2 billion in the same period last year.
