4 drown in La Union, Masbate
CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – Four persons, including an eight-year-old boy, drowned in separate incidents in La Union and Masbate on Sunday.
Cristopher Colcol, 36, and Kijel Carpio, 19, were swimming in Tubao River when they were swept away by the strong current, said Chief Inspector Artemio Infante, La Union police information officer.
Florentina Frigillana, 22, fell off a bamboo raft while swimming with her cousin in Aringay River. She was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
In Dimasalang, Masbate, JC Garciano drowned in a pool at the Patio Milagros Minitel.
The boy was pronounced dead on arrival at the Cataigan District Hospital.
3 missing
Meanwhile, three persons were reported missing after they were swept away by floodwaters at a mountainside resort in Majayjay, Laguna on Saturday.
Vanessa Carillo, 33; Bryan Alimania, 34, and Cristine Altea Almania, 6, all residents of Cabuyao town, were swimming in Dalitiwan River when heavy rains occurred, said Inspector Roselle Orate, Laguna police spokesperson.
The Philippine Coast Guard dispatched a vessel and crew to help the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Philippine Red Cross and local police in the search and rescue operations.
