Star Wars fancy
Imagine Nation Studios ( INS) and Secret Fresh Gallery teamed up in the past for Star Wars Day and came up with unique designer toys based on a Star Wars character. Their previous series included Trooper Boy, Vader Boy, C3P Boy and Spray2D2.
Recently, Lawrence Aliwalas and Milch Pe of INS intended “Fett Boy” to be a celebration of Star Wars and the creativity and artistry of the Filipino visual artist.
Aliwalas and Pe gave several local ar tists a blank fiberglass and resin handmade Boba Fett helmet, which the artists were free to paint however they wanted. This project made way for creations of one- of- a- kind custom Fett toys. There was a limited number of Fett Boy toys available, too.
The artists who customized the Fett helmet included A. lien, Aljoe Clarino, Arjay Sarte, Bato, Bembol dela Cruz, Bree Jonson, Brian Bernardo, Bryan Yabut, Chill, Ciane Xavier, Cos Zicarelli, Darrel Ballesteros, Darwin Dacanay, Edric Go, Epjey Pacheco, Erica Ng, Gab Baez, Ge Mapa, Googly Gooeys’ Anthony and Tippy Go, J. Pacena II, Gori Bautista, James Darryl Esguerra, Karl Gustav, Kris Abrigo, Lee Caces, Maliksi Zaragoza, Marcushiro Nada, Martin Honasan, Mayang Frigillana, Melbourne Aquino, Michael Villagante, Mikhail Lee, Mimi Tecson, Nemo Aguil, Nix Puno, Philip Lee, Punchkick, Ranelle Dial, Renato Barja Jr., Soleil Ignacio, Christof Rellera x Anna Orlina, Tokwa Peñaflorida, Tyang Karyel, Valerie Chua, Wesley Valenzuela and Whoop. I have acquired customized toys from some of these artists like the Stormtrooper helmet by Chill and Darth Vader helmet by Cos Ziccarelli.
Aliwalas and Pe got into the toy business after studying toymaking as part of their Fine Arts course in the University of Santo Tomas. They got into toymaking as a hobby. They are planning to donate part of the proceeds of Fett Boy to charity to promote local artistry.
