Enjoy your beach body all year round

During a recent get-together with my female besties, a plan to spend four days at a beach resort in Boracay was foremost on the agenda. We all look forward to our yearly out-of-town sortie as it is that one time when we leave all our cares behind, let our hair down, and just chill out with each other. The married ladies toss their domestic responsibilities to the wind and the working ladies, well, they take a break from work! They are not allowed to bring their laptops and connect with the office.

Then the sad reality sets in: Only two of us have beach-ready bodies. Almost, anyway, with a lot of reservations! We stretched the day of departure to late June to avoid peak- season rates and the madding crowd that goes to Bora in hordes during high summer. But truth to tell, the real reason is that we all planned to go on a crash diet and double time in the gym so we could fit into our bathing suits of many seasons back. One practical friend made us look at the hard reality: At a certain age, one needs help from a cosmetic clinic with slimming machines. Diet and exercise are good for the health but will not really blast away our long-stored belly fats.

It brought to mind an article my health and well- being professor, Dr. Eva Selhub, sent me a while back. Her article reads: “.. I keep hearing talk about the stress of getting a beach-ready body. When we know our body can be hidden by layers of clothing, we don’t seem as concerned about how we look until we plan on being half- naked.” She continued that we should change the way we view ourselves and work on our body so we feel strong, healthy, and vibrant all year round. Hers are words of wisdom that we should all heed. But what about getting help from an aesthetic, anti-aging clinic? Diet and exercise don’t seem to work on our body fat any longer. My friends assigned me to do the research work on this. I chose to go to Dr. Aivee Teo’s clinic and inquired about the latest non-invasive technology to blast away or reduce body fat.

Ladies, do away with the idea of liposuction, as here are my choices of the latest non-invasive procedures to help restore your figure to its past bikini-glory:

• Sculpsure-X. The novel diode-based fat reduction module of the Sculpsure, in conjunction with the intense shockwavebased fat bursting of the X-wave, provides synergistically optimized slimming.

X-wave delivers intense shockwaves to the fat cells that effectively weakens and disrupts the cell membrane for easier elimination of fat.

Sculpsure delivers a controlled wave of diodide laser that effectively promotes apoptosis or fat cell death, thereby resulting in permanent and efficient slimming to target areas. Sculpsure is ideal for people with trouble spots, like the abdomen and love handles, and particularly those areas that seem resistant to diet and exercise. Most patients feel a tingling sensation intermittently throughout the treatment, which is generally well tolerated.

Many patients start to see results in six weeks after the treatment as the body begins to evacuate the destroyed fat cells. Optimum results are seen in 12 weeks.

There is no downtime, you can go back to your normal activities after treatment.

The difference between fat loss and weight loss: The number of fat cells stored in our bodies typically remains constant throughout adult life, even when we lose weight. After the Sculpsure treatment, the destroyed fat cells never return. As we lose weight, the size of fat cells becomes smaller but typically, they do not decrease in number. So even with diet and exercise, many people have difficulty losing fat in trouble areas.

• Vanquish. It is the first and only contactless technology with the largest treatment area, ensuring unrivaled level of patient comfort and safety. The Vanquish patented technology delivers a non-invasive solution with unparalleled efficacy. The broad RF is precisely focused into deep tissue layers while the skin is automatically cooled by the air. Targeted deep layers remain at higher temperatures compared to overlying skin. The recommended number of treatments is between four and six sessions over the course of a few weeks.

• ThermiTight. Designed for skin tightening in different areas of the face and body, ThermiTight is described as “thermistor-controlled subdermal skin tightening.” The ThermiRF System is used along with a tiny thermistor probe which is inserted under the skin using local anesthesia. The purpose is to heat subdermal tissues to a user- selected specific temperature. After the procedure, a gentle wrap is applied and the patient may resume normal activities next day.

How it works: The doctor applies a controlled amount of thermal energy to the targeted tissue. The tip of a tiny probe provides constant feedback of the actual temperature during the treatment. During the procedure, an infrared camera is used to monitor skin temperature to ensure that your treatment is both safe and effective.
