Five persons, with reported links to the illegal drug trade, were shot dead by unidentified assailants in the cities of Caloocan and Parañaque since Wednesday night.

Shortly before midnight, Fernando Rempillo, 44, was standing in front of his house on Salmon street in Barangay 8 when six men on three motorcycles shot him repeatedly, said Chief Inspector Ilustre Mendoza, who heads the city police’s investigation section.

An hour later, Daniel Landicho, 44, was standing at the corner of Pusit street and Padas Alley in Barangay 12 when two men riding a motorcycle arrived and shot him.

At around 2:45 a.m., four men barged into the house of Aljon Macaya, 28, on Mangga street in Natividad Subdivision, Barangay 168. They went up to his bedroom and shot him in front of his partner.

Mendoza said Joy Fornillas, 34, was gunned down in Camarin but his office has not yet received the official report.

He said all the victims were somehow related to the illegal drug trade in the city “one way or the other” but refused to say if the assailants in the four attacks were police officers.

In Parañaque, suspected drug pusher Roberto Frias was walking along Peru street in Barangay Don Bosco when two unidentified men on a motorcycle shot him at close range, killing him at the scene, at around 8:20 p.m., according to a report reaching the Southern Police District. 4 more killed by cops

Meanwhile, four drug suspects were killed by police officers, also since Wednesday night.

Chief Inspector Bernard Pagaduan and his team arrested Alvin Samson, 43, along Baltazar street in Barangay 70, Caloocan City and confiscated marijuana from him.

Pagaduan reported that Samson was shot when he tried to grab the gun of one of the police officers while he was being taken to the patrol car.

In Tondo, Manila, a man identified only as Akhmad was killed in an alleged shootout with Police Officer 2 Raymund Boco, who was undercover, at around 4:30 a.m. yesterday.

Boco was supposed to buy several sachets of shabu from Akhmad, said Senior Police Officer 2 Charles Duran.

In Pasig, suspected drug pusher Felix Manlangit was shot dead before 5 a.m. when he shot at police officers who were trying to serve him a search warrant at his house in Barangay Pineda.

Manlangit was listed as the city’s top drug pusher, according to Eastern Police District director Senior Superintendent Romulo Sapitula.

Police officers and barangay officials found a kilo of shabu and a .38 caliber revolver during a subsequent search of Manlangit’s shanty, said Senior Superintendent Jose Hidalgo Jr., Pasig police chief.
