The Manila Hotel’s QR tour and pop-up museum

-

Over a hundred years ago, in 1898, American architect and urban designer Daniel Burnham drafted a plan for the city of Manila, focusing on a wide tree-lined boulevard that would begin at the city’s central park, at the mouth of Manila Bay. This boulevard was to be dominated on one end by a hotel that would offer first-class accommodations for entrepreneurs, politicians, military personnel and engineers visiting the Philippine Islands.

On July 4, 1912, a magnificent white and green California Mission-styled edifice opened its doors – The Manila Hotel. Then as now, the hotel commands the best westward view of Manila’s fabled sunset, the fortress of Corregidor and the ruins of the medieval citadel that was Intramuros and the palm-lined promenades of the Luneta. Today, more than a hundred years later, the legacy of unparalleled service goes on, hand in hand with genuine Filipino hospitality.

The Manila Hotel’s greatest asset is its history. The Hotel has lived through over a hundred years and has been a frequent part of historic events pivotal to our country’s heritage and culture.

Now this history comes alive through The Manila Hotel QR Tour and Pop-up Museum. This heritage tour will feature at least 20 QR modules with QR codes etched on brass plates. These are placed around the hotel’s areas, both historic and new, and will feature real photos and videos from our archives and from libraries all over, enabling visitors to take the tour even without a guide.

Coinciding with the QR Tour and pop-up museum and in celebration of its 104th anniversary, the hotel is treating guests to a $104++ per room per night until July 31, 2016. The promotion includes staying in one of The Ma- nila Hotel’s Superior Deluxe rooms with complimentary buffet breakfast at the Café Ilang-Ilang for two persons. All you have to do is to unlock four QR codes to be eligible for this promotion. Booking period is until July 31. For inquiries and reservations, call 527-0011 local 1175 to 1178 or email resvn@themanilahotel.com. The Manila Hotel Pop-up Museum is open to the public until July 31 at the Roma Salon near the Grand Lobby.

Positioned as the true heart of the Philippines, The Manila Hotel is the country’s premier five-star and flagship hotel. It is located at One Rizal Park, Manila. For more information, call 527 0011 or visit
