PHL to host Asian conference on oral, maxillofacial surgery
The Philippines is leaving no stone unturned to make the 12th Asian Congress on Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery ( ACOMS) a rewarding and fruitful experience for close to 1,000 delegates from various countries in Asia who are expected to attend.
To be hosted by the Philippine College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons ( PCOMS), the congress, set Nov. 9- 12 at the Manila Hotel with the theme “Embracing Technologies,” will feature scientific meetings with top-notch international and local speakers, trade exhibits and social functions.
Mario Esquillo, president of the Asian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AAOMS) and congress chairman and Fernando Fernandez, chairman of the organizing committee are inviting oral and maxillofacial surgeons, EENT specialists, plastic surgeons and students to register early with the Secretariat to avail of discounts.
This is the second time that PCOMS will be hosting the event which was first held in the country in 1989.
Currently headed by Cynthia del Castillo, PCOMS is the only accredited oral and maxillofacial surgery specialty association by the Philippine Dental Association, Asian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
PCOMS is the only accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialty by the Professional Regulation Commission. There were only 42 PCOMS Fellows that were granted as specialists in the said field. Eusebio Nazareno, PCOMS founding president, is the acknowledged godfather of Filipino oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
