Games tomorrow 2:30 p.m. – Cignal vs Standard Insurance-Navy 4:30 p.m. – F2 Logistics vs Petron

Generika bounced back strong from a first-set setback, foiling Amy’s Kitchen, 21- 25, 25- 17, 25- 23, 25- 14, yesterday in the classification phase of the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference women’s volleyball tournament at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Bulacan.

Chloe Cortez, a rising star for UST in the UAAP, fired 16 kills, made four blocks and turned in an ace to finish with a game-high 21 points for Generika, which swept its matches in the second round.

The Lifesavers will next face the winner between Cignal and Standard Insurance-Navy in the battle for fifth when the league goes back to the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan on Sunday.

The HD Spikers and the Corvettes, meanwhile, tangle tomorrow.

Middle blocker Gen Casugod also turned in an impressive nine-point outing while seasoned playmaker Rubie de Leon tallied nine markers on top of dishing out 19 excellent sets.

After shrugging off their opening frame setback, Generika took the first seven points in the second set then went on to force a 1-1 tie before pulling off a tough win in the third. They reasserted their might in the fourth to complete the win in the interclub tournament bankrolled by KLab Cyscorpions, Mueller, Mikasa and Asics with TV5 as official broadcast partner.

The Spikers never recovered from there as Cortez and Casugod took care of the net while wing spikers Shaya Adorador and Wensh Tiu supplied the offense.
