Highlands Cup 11th edition draws 150 participan­ts

The Highlands Ladies Cup readies another banner edition for its 11th staging with a huge field of 150 set to clash for top honors in various divisions in a friendly but highly competitiv­e tournament next month at Tagaytay Midlands Golf Club.

The organizing Tagaytay Highlands Ladies Chapter has lined up another exciting 18- hole tournament on Sept. 24 with prizes up for grabs for a roster that will feature a mix of players and guests from various sectors.

Auto Nation Group – Mercedes-Benz, Pacific On Line and W Group, Inc. head the chief backers of the annual event as Diamond sponsors, SM Store as Platinum sponsor and Pilipinas Shell and Regent Travel as Gold sponsors.

New Golden City Builders and Developmen­t Corp., SM Prime and Petron are the event’s Silver sponsors while the Bronze backers include Ajisen Ramen, Burlington Socks, Grind Bistro, Holland Blooms, Honda Cavite and Mikey Macapagal Arroyo.

A brand-new Club Car from The Turf Company, a Cleveland men’s golf set from Tee One, Inc and a Royal Caribbean Cruise from Baron Travel will be staked as hole-in-one prizes in the event backed by donors Beach Walk, Bistro Group, Elarz Pambansang Lechon, Finix Corp., Health is a Journey, Karada, The Manor, Baguio, Novotel Hotel Cubao, Oracle Aesthetic Clinic, Ricoa, Srixon and XX10.

Kim Chang Yuen and Bart Borja, who won the low gross title and the low net honors in last year’s grand 10th staging, are expected to head the cast in the upcoming blue-ribbon tournament to be played under the System 36 scoring format.

Doy Mercado, Winada Effendy and Lito Maraña are also expected to be back to defend their Class A, B and C titles, respective­ly, along with their respective runners-up Joey Solis, Ver Raymundo and Judge Nor Guanlao.
