Toni & Guy: Time for cool-girl color, buns and undone curls

-

Francesco Fontana, Toni & Guy international technical artistic director and educational technical director for Essensuals Hairdressing, visited Manila recently to share the latest trends in hair color and styling as seen in London Fashion Week, during which Toni & Guy was a major sponsor. In partnership with L’Oreal Professionnel Philippines, he shared the latest on haircut and hairstyling techniques at the Hair Sessions with Francesco Fontana event.

Shortly after joining the company, Toni & Guy launched the Essensuals salon group and Francesco took on the challenge of developing this new and exciting brand, pioneering the color excellence of Toni & Guy and introducing new color concepts at Essensuals salons.

Based at the Toni & Guy Central London Academy, Francesco teaches across all color courses and plays an integral role in the development of Toni & Guy’s educational offering. Francesco also works alongside L’Oreal Professionnel and is part of the 20/20 Colour Expert team made up of the top 20 technicians in the UK.

Brilliant braiding

As seen on the runways of Giles, Paul Costellos, Pam Hogg, Apu Jan, and CJ Yao, the look is all about irregular French plaits close to the scalp, much like the hairstyle worn under the extravagant wigs of the Tudor period.

Undone curls

Jean-Pierre Braganza and House of Holland showcased loose and effortless curls, from lived in to wild waves. Curls were made more modern with a slightly greasy edge on the roots.

Budding buns

Buns and “huns” (half-buns) were seen at Tata Naka and Judy Wu. Two rope braids from the front and top sections of their hair were twisted into messy, irregular buns for Tata Naka, while volume and height were the key traits of the buns at Judy Wu.

Creative color

Colors and cuts for Toni & Guy this season draw inspiration from the top trends of the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s, but giving these cuts an angular twist. All of them have a rock chick feel, with lots of texture and a bit of messyness. Colors range from Electric Violet to Warm White, Sunset Purple to Aqua Blue.

*** L’Oreal Professionnel is available at the following Toni & Guy salons: SM Aura Taguig, Discovery Primea Makati, SM Megamall Mandaluyong, TriNoma Mall QC and SM Mall Of Asia Pasay.
