Sun Life enlivens the workweek with a night of ‘hugot’ lines
“Hugot lines” took the spotlight as Sun Life Financial teamed up with BGC to present an exciting edition of the “Hump Day Wednesday Quiz Night” last August 17 at the Fort Strip Open Parking.
The Quiz Night is among the most-anticipated events in BGC, and the “hugot” theme made it even more enjoyable, as young professionals gamely completed song lyrics and movie lines that ranged from romantic to downright cheesy.
Sun Life made the night brighter with the fun games and prizes. Some of the participants got a thrill trying to balance the giant Jenga tower, while others focused their attention on the giant tic-tac-toe puzzle.
“We’re definitely happy to be a part of BGC’s popular Quiz Night and to be able to give yuppies a chance to relax amid the demands of their jobs,” Sun Life recruitment manager Fin Bernardo said. “It’s always important to have work-life balance, and this event gives them the chance to just laugh and have fun with friends.”
BGC Retail Marketing Manager Sean Luarca echoed this sentiment. “The idea is to give BGC citizens a breather in the middle of the workweek, and give them a boost that would carry them through Thursday and Friday,” says BGC retail marketing manager Sean Luarca. “What’s nice is that since we started this last year, we really got the community to join by registering their respective groups online. Many employees from the different companies around BGC have been participating each month,” she adds.
A not-so-usual midweek party. the Quiz Night was complemented with food and drinks sold by various Fort Strip merchants and acoustic music from BGC Impromptu Featured Artist Prince Dundee Valencia. The Fort Strip Open Parking was converted into a large open-air tent and was decorated with the dangling light bulbs for the event.
“I hate to turn up out of the blue ‘uninvited,’” answered one group, completing the lyrics to a popular Adele song. “Relationships are like clothes. It has more value if it has a ‘label,’” answered another group. Armed with their white board markers and formica boards, each group raised their answers to receive rewards from Sun Life and BGC.
“More than the prize, it’s really the fun of thinking about the answers and spending time with friends and officemates,” BGC Retail Marketing Assistant Manager Pam Magbitang said. “Some participating groups have even gotten to know each other just by joining. It creates a sense of community.”
Through events like “BGC Hump Day Wednesday,” Sun Life helps young professionals live brighter by fostering friendships and strengthening social bonds, and creating networks, so that they can prosper not just financially but also holistically.
