Classical violinist Chino Gutierrez returns to BDO concert hall
Young Filipino classical violin virtuoso Joaquin Maria “Chino” Gutierrez returns to the concert stage of BDO’s Francisco Santiago Concert Hall in H.V. de la Costa street corner Makati Avenue, Makati City on Sept. 17, Saturday. The Munich-trained violinist will play Mozart’s Sonata in Eb major K302, Fauré’s Sonata in A major, Tchaikovsky’s Valse- Scherzo, Paganini’s La Campanella and other wellloved works.
Gutierrez’s musical mastery was recognized early on by his German violin professor and renowned pedagogue Jens
Ellermann, who described Gutierrez, then in high school in Munich, as “a major talent of the violin.”
The concert is deemed significant because it will be a reunion for Gutierrez and his accompanying pianist, the esteemed Mary Ann Espina, who had accompanied the then child prodigy in his early teens in several appearances in Manila.
It is also of importance that the concert, for the first time, will be held under the auspices of the prestigious Bankers Association of the Philippines — a most welcome development for the country’s music artists and those of other cultural genre.
Gutierrez’s concert on Sept. 17 is a good occasion for the growing number of violin and piano aficionados in the country. Don’t miss this concert to enjoy classical music at its finest, as well as to support outstanding Filipino music talents.
