19 more drug suspects killed

Nineteen more persons suspected of involvemen­t in the illegal drug trade were killed across the country in the past two days.

Eight were killed in Bulacan on Wednesday.

Two of the fatalities were identified as Florentino Alberto, 27, a resident of Barangay Buro in Balagtas town, and Bong-Bong Manabat of Barangay Tawiran, Obando.

Senior Superinten­dent Romeo Caramat, Bulacan police acting director, said Alberto was shot dead in front of his house while Manabat and two other men, who have yet to be identified, were found dead in Barangay Tawiran. Placards identifyin­g the fatalities as drug pushers were found at the scene.

Caramat said four other men were killed when they shot it out with anti-drug operatives in Barangay Minuyan in San Jose del Monte City.

Four guns, six sachets of shabu and drug parapherna­lia were recovered from the fatalities, police said.

In Batangas, suspected vigilantes shot dead constructi­on worker Alvin Andaya, 35, and Catalino Tuiza, 31, in Barangay Pagaspas in Tanauan City at around 10 a.m. also on Wednesday.

The victims were riding a motorcycle on their way to Barangay Pantay Matanda when they were slain. Police said Andaya was on their drug watchlist.

Rolando de Villa, alias Rodolf, was killed in a reported shootout with police operatives during a sting in Barangay San Francisco in Victoria, Laguna.

In Nueva Ecija, Dominador Fontanilla, 50, and his son John Mark were shot dead by unidentifi­ed men who barged into their house in Barangay District 4 in Cuyapo town on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Superinten­dent Manuel Cornel, Nueva Ecija police director, said Fontanilla was on their drug watchlist and a member of a robbery gang and a group of contract killers.

Olazo drug ring

Meanwhile, Cesar Olazo, the alleged leader of the Olazo drug ring, was killed in an alleged encounter with police in Barangay San Roque in San Pedro City also in Laguna.

Superinten­dent Harold Depositor, San Pedro police chief, said Olazo was a “high-value” drug pusher, who supplied shabu in the province.

In Bataan, Juman Taghoy, 29, was killed in a sting in Barangay Sisiman in Mariveles town.

The fatality yielded a caliber .38 revolver as well as ammunition, four sachets of shabu and P500 in cash, police said.

Chona Oliveros, 47, whom police said was on their drug watchlist, was gunned down in Baguio City before noon yesterday.

Also yesterday in Basilan, two unidentifi­ed men were killed when they fired at antidrug operatives during a sting in Barangay Bana in Tipo-Tipo town.

Police informant Darus Sakkalahul was slain in the alleged encounter.
