Back to the ‘60s for USTHS ‘68 alumni
UST High School ‘ 68 batch mates relive memories of the ‘60s -- like when the Beatles was taking us down the Yellow Submarine and their principal, the much-feared but well-loved Araceli Murillo, was looking down at the hemlines of the girls’ uniforms to check on their lengths (the longer, the better) -- as they get together for a weekend to remember on Oct. 7-9 in Toronto, Canada. Theme of the reunion, which coincides with Canadian thanksgiving weekend, is “Scaling Heights.”
An early evening reception awaits alumni on Oct. 7, Friday at the Marriott Courtyard in downtown Toronto. Saturday, Oct. 8 promises a whole day of fun as alumni go on a guided tour around Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake. Sunday, Oct. 9 is a day to explore Toronto via a two-hour hop-on-hop-off city tour with 21 landmark stops. Capping the day is a 45-minute boat cruise through Toronto’s harbour and islands.
Finally, a gala night is set on Oct. 9, Sunday featuring all-night disco a-go-go dancing with a live band performing high school favorites. Girls and boys are asked to come in true high school retro fashion -- think bell bottoms, mini skirts, opt art-inspired clothes, Twiggy fashion, empire-cut dresses, halters, palazzos, etc. The most creative wins a prize.
