Perpetual University launches anti-drugs program
In support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s drugs war campaign, the University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta (UPHSD) has bared its innovative strategy plan in fighting drug menace not only in various communities but also in the school.
Retired Col. Antonio Rodriquez, Dean of the College of Criminology, said academic deans, faculty, employees and student councils of the different disciplines, has conceptualized the Perpetual Calamba Anti-Drug and Advisory Council ( PCADAC), recently.
The PCADAC officials headed by Dr. Arnaldo De Guzman, school director, has formulated plans, policies and programs through preventive educations in relation with the Demand Reduction Strategies of the government.
The PCADAC has launched recently a so- called ‘ Drug Awareness and Prevention Program which aims is to educate and enhance the knowledge of the students and employees of the University under the latest prevention strategies.
The fight against drugs must start in every sectors of the society, Rodriquez stressed, saying the drugs was not sole responsibility of the government it’s needs an individuals with collaboration of all the sectors of society, the drug campaign must start in every community like what the school officials doing right now.
The event was graced by Atty. Salvador Lagrosas, legal counsel for Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) who was also a guest and speaker.
In his speech, Lagrosas cited the drug problem has engulfed 27 percent of the country’s 42,000 barangays based on the Dangerous Drugs board
Lagrosas said the creation of PCADAC is the start of a closer coordination and cooperation among the PDEA agency, the local officials and the University in ensuring not only to produce a well –round and healthy citizenry capable of building a nation free from illegal drugs.
All Deans and department heads who were underwent surprised drug test and faculties of the College of Criminoloy were no found tested positive for drug use.
Also highlighted in the program are the burning of the effigy outside the gymnasium and the oath taking of PCADAC officers and members.
Thousands of students from various academics and employees trooped to witness the launching of the program.
