Steltz, The Gallery unveils lighting sculptures by Brand Van Egmond
Ingenuity continues to flow from the ateliers of Dutch lighting design brand Brand Van Egmond whose newest handcrafted decorative lighting teems with palpable passion for design and craftsmanship. Housed at Steltz, The Gallery, the latest lighting sculptures offer new inspirations for designing sophisticated interiors and a unique way of lighting up modern homes.
The Eve chandelier is an ode to the first woman on earth. Designer William Brand, owner of both the brand and the studio, carefully juxtaposes each light globe around the sculpture resembling tempting apples hanging on branches. To suit different kinds of spaces and aesthetics, clients may customize the chandelier in different finishes — nickel, bronze, copper, brass, black matt and white matt and in round, oval or conical configurations.
Brand finds inspiration for his work Fractal in the exact yet endless repetition seen in crystal growth, fluid turbulence and galaxy formation. Borrowed from the natural phenomenon of the same name, Fractal highlights profound beauty in the abstract. Reflecting elements from the “organized chaos” of stainless steel, this chandelier disperses light beautifully in all directions.
Kelp, a dramatic light source, is inspired by bountiful algae that flourish under the sea. Befitting its organic form, the Kelp brings an exhilarating sense in the interior. Homeowners may utilize the object in any direction — a single chandelier with a ceiling cover can create an organic light or multiple chandeliers may be entwined together to form a dancing composition. The Kelp comes in various shapes, sizes and finishes and is available in round, conical and oval chandeliers, with finishes in stainless steel, red copper, brass high gloss, black or white.
Brand Van Egmond was founded in 1989 in Naarden, the Netherlands with the sole purpose of creating functional art without restraints. William Brand graduated at the Utrecht School of the Arts in the Netherlands, where he was trained as an architect. His passion for lighting sculptures has given birth to impressive collections, with yearly additions of new designs available in over 60 countries where the company operates including the Philippines where it is exclusively carried by Steltz, the Gallery.
