Bellevue Resort 5i50 up in Bohol

-

Bellevue Resort, a world- class resort on the coastline of Panglao Island in Bohol, gears up for its first triathlon venture – the Bellevue Resort 5i50 Triathlon set Nov. 6 with a crack international field clashing for top honors in various divisions of the grueling swim-bike-run event.

Australians Sam Betten and Dimity Lee- Duke have confirmed participation in the blue-ribbon event, which they ruled in last year’s staging of the 1.5K swim, 40K bike and 10K run championship.

But the duo will be up against a formidable field, which includes compatriots Alexander Polizzi and Michelle Duffield, New Zealand’s Amelia Rose Watkinson and local based Dan Brown and top Filipina elite Monica Torres.

Top triathletes from Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Europe, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom and the United States are also joining the hunt for the top $2,000 purse in both sides.

The top male and female elite finishers will pocket P30,000 each.

Meanwhile, the organizing Sunrise Events, Inc. is also putting up the Sunrise Sprint, a short distance race series and a sub- category of The Bellevue 5i50 featuring a 750m swim, a 20K bike and a 5K run held for the second time this year but first in Bohol.

Registration is ongoing with limited slots up for grabs for early bird and the 5+1 promo. For details, visit www.bellevue.5150philippines.com.

To spice up the twin events, a 5i50 Expo Open and Bike Service Open will be held on Nov. 4-5 at The Bellevue Pavilion.

The event is also expected to boost local tourism with the pristine Panglao Island boasting of natural wonders and attractions as well as artistic, cultural and historial treasures. Billed as one of the country’s top tourist destinations, the Panglao Island has also become a haven for weekend travelers and city folk looking for rest and relaxation.

The Bellevue Resort 5i50 will fire off at 6:28 a.m. on Nov. 6 with Wave I composed of the pros and Filipino elite. The male age group 15-39 will flag off at 6:35 a.m. and the female age groups and relay teams at 6:40 a.m.
