SM scholars pass electrical engineering board exam
Six SM scholars who finished Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering recently passed the licensure examination for electrical engineers. The new electrical engineers are Jyno Christian Andrei Bauan and Jimbooh Pacquiao Como, both graduates of the University of Batangas; Job Deatras from the Central Philippine University, Iloilo; Benigno Esguerra, University of Nueva Caceres, Naga; Michael John Fava, Bulacan State University; and Delinger Pajela, Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro City. They joined the roster of SM scholar graduates who passed the board exams in engineering, accountancy and education among others.
The six new engineers are among the more than 1,900 graduates the SM Scholarship Program has produced since it was launched. The program supports 1,500 scholars at any given time who are enrolled in 82 partner colleges and universities throughout the country. The scholars pursue courses in the field of accountancy, civil engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electronics and communications engineering, electrical engineering, elementary education, information management, information technology, mechanical engineering and secondary education.
The scholars’ benefits include full matriculation fees and monthly stipend. They are given the opportunity to take on summer/Christmas break jobs at SM Malls and, after graduation, are offered exclusive job opportunities by the SM Group.
Aside from the college scholarship program, SM through the SM Foundation offers technical/vocation scholarship. It has increased the number of its techvoc scholars from 200 to 1,000 and has partnered with techvoc training centers to provide employable skills to outof-school youth and those intending to pursue careers in the techvoc field.
