Solenn on hubby: Walang bawal

- By Bot Glorioso

Just because Solenn Heussaff is now married does not mean her movements and activities become limited. Her Argentinian husband, Nico Bolzico, sets no restrictions that would make Solenn feel that she is being tied with a chain. May of this year when Solenn and Nico exchanged marital vows in France after five years of going steady. “No, bawal,” Solenn told The STAR when asked if Nico limits her every move. “If so, then I won’t get married. I believe that even if you are married, you just have to stay who you are and be who you are. So if you’re gonna marry someone who wants to change you, parang ‘wag na lang; sa iba na lang.”

Even in her career, the half-Pinay, half-French Kapuso actress added that her husband doesn’t meddle in any way — from her looks down to the kind of projects she wishes to do. “Actually, I make him kwento about where I am right now or I just tell him of my schedules like I’m just probably not home until 5 a.m. because of taping so he will not wait for me like I just tell him, ‘Don’t wait for me; you can have dinner with your friends,’ or whatever. But we’re not the type who would meddle with each other’s work.”

But husband and wife make sure their communication line is always open. Solenn is not shy to confide to Nico whatever is bugging her “or if there is an issue about me, I’ll talk to him about it.”

Of course, curious minds are wondering what is Solenn like at home? Is she, like any other married women out of the showbiz circuit, also busy doing the household chores?

“Actually, what you see is what you get. I’m super chill; I’m not pa-sosyal di ako ganun. I’m just super relaxed, soft-spoken. When I’m at home, I’m just cooking or watching TV or exercising; nothing is so exciting, ha,ha,ha.”

Not once did Solenn pretend to be something that she is not. No wonder, many are impressed at how she is able to do a lot of things such as acting, hosting, painting, modeling, writing (she has just released her book titled Hot Sos) and singing. In fact, she is allowing everyone to be familiar with the tales of her heart through her eponymous album released under Universal Records. It contains eight tracks, including a remake of Christopher Cross’ hit Never be The Same.

The songs, Solenn shared, speak about her experiences in falling in love. “It’s all about different stages of love — from heartbreak, falling in love, discovering one’s self. Love is the universal language so I think it’s always a good theme to have. It’s never a fail when it comes to that.”

She continued, “They (songs) all describe me because I have been through different types of relationship. I’ve experienced all of this — heartache, heartbreak, falling in love, thinking you’re in love. The songs helped me relive those moments.” Hence, she didn’t think long and hard about having her third album simply titled as Solenn.

“I’m 31 (years old) now and I’m content with who I am as a person. So I didn’t want to give a title. Just me; a piece of me.”

Solenn shared that she started singing at six years old but not much came out of it “since my mom was forcing me to do it often (laughs) and it’s not good when you are forced to do anything.”

But she admitted to be singing in the shower all the time and insisted, “I always like singing and I sing when there are events but I wouldn’t consider myself as a singer like Sarah Geronimo. But it’s something that I love doing because I’m not the type of person who can really express myself in front of other peoand singing is a good way to do that. Singing or painting, which is why I love doing both.”

Although she is neckdeep with work, her desire to work on more indie films never falter a bit. “Sana din I’ll have a second exhibit next year.”

How about having a child? “Not this year. S’yempre

naman I want to raise a family in the future maybe end of next year or two years from now. Not too soon. Kakakasal ko lang so dapat mag- enjoy muna.”

( Solenn is available in CD in record stores nationwide and on digital formats — iTunes, Spinnr, Deezer and Amazon.)
