4 killed in Luzon drug war

Four suspected drug personalit­ies, including a police officer, were killed in separate incidents in Luzon in the past two days.

Senior Police Officer 1 Dominador Mag-uyon of the Bulacan Provincial Public Safety Co. was walking in Barangay Bangcal in Meycauayan City when unidentifi­ed motorcycle­riding men shot him at around 2 p.m., said Senior Superinten­dent Romeo Caramat, Bulacan police acting director.

Caramat said Mag- uyon was accused of collecting protection money from drug pushers.

In San Ildefonso town, a man who has yet to be identified was dumped along the road in Barangay Pasong Bangkal before dawn yesterday.

The body bore gunshot wounds and a placard identifyin­g him as a drug pusher. His face was covered with packing tape.

In Laguna, Marlon Malabo and his companion identified only as an alias Buloy were killed in an alleged shootout with police in Barangay San Cristobal in Calamba City at around 3:45 a.m. yesterday.

Superinten­dent Albert Tupalao, Calamba police chief, said the fatalities were involved not only in illegal drugs, but also in carjacking and robbery.

Village chief slain

Meanwhile, in Sorsogon, suspected drug pusher Edgardo Matibay, 48, shot dead Joel Ombao, 47, chairman of Barangay Tinagonan in Donsol town on Sunday.

Ombao was in front of a convenienc­e store when Matibay arrived and shot him several times, said Senior Inspector Joel Trinanes.

Probers are eyeing revenge as the motive for the killing after Matibay was included on the barangay drug watchlist that Ombao prepared, said Senior Inspector Malou Calubaquib, Bicol police spokespers­on.

Police launched a manhunt for Matibay.

6 nabbed in stings

Six other suspected drug personalit­ies have been arrested in stings.

Jocelyn Macabuhay, 37, and her partner Jerome Anasin, 37, were arrested in Barangay Diego Liñan in Daet, Camarines Norte at around 7:30 a.m. yesterday.

In Zambales, PO1 Marco Almario, 40, was collared in a sting in Barangay Tapuac in Masinloc town on Friday.

Donald de la Cruz, 39, and Jaypee Marcelino, 36, were nabbed in an anti- drug operation in Barangay Agnaya in Plaridel, Bulacan on Sunday.

In Rizal, Alfonso Buenaventu­ra, 47, did not resist when collared after selling a sachet of shabu to undercover agents along Kabisig road in Barangay San Andres in Cainta at around 5 p.m. also on Sunday.

The suspects, who are either on the drug watchlist of their barangay or the police in their areas, reportedly yielded sachets of shabu, guns and marked money. –
